Advanced medical research using MRI scans on the brain has shown how it reacts to meditation.
Lets just say the results are favourable.
Dr. Herbert, a Harvard researcher, proved how effective meditation is in improving health.
His team’s research showed meditation is an antidote to stress, reduces heart rate, slows respiration, decreases blood pressure, lowers oxygen consumption, and decreases muscle tension.
Dr. Herbert wrote a bestseller, The Relaxation Response, about it in the 1970s.
Other research has shown that Meditation
- Alleviates symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis
- Lowers levels of bad cholesterol
- Reduces chronic pain
- Lowers blood levels of harmful stress hormones
- Improves sleep patterns
- Lowers levels of blood lactate (which is associated with anxiety)
- Improves emotional health e.g. depression
- Increases will-power
Basically you will need less visits to the doctor, just like when you practise Qigong.
In the lessons we will work on How To Meditate, enabling you to achieve some or all of these benefits above.
I meditate a little every day and use “one pointedness” technique during Qigong and can say that the Guided Meditations facilitated in my classes are easy to follow. Some of the styles facilitated are:
- Daoist Healing Sounds, directed at improving the organs and their functions.
- Light Visualisation Meditations, increasing one’s concentration and improving energy flow in the body.
- Anapanasati
